Public Sector Workforce Wellbeing
Public Sector Workforce Relations through the Workforce Wellbeing branch, aims to provide leadership and excellence in Injury Prevention and Injury Management relevant to the needs of the South Australian Government and South Australian Public Sector employees.
Government approved the "Safety in the Public Sector 2007 - 2010" Strategy on 26 March 2007 for implementation in July 2007. The strategy was founded on the Premier's Vision of Zero Harm and 100% Return to Work and the principle that every injury is preventable. The Strategy, underpinned by a philosophy of continuous improvement is comprised of four interlocking elements: Sustainable Commitment, Financial Accountability, Integrated Risk Management and Rigorous Evaluation.
The Strategy contains 8 targets measuring Injury Prevention and Injury Management practices that have been formulated to drive across government performance for the period 2007 - 2010.
Public Sector Workforce Wellbeing aims to promote Safety Management as a core business value for all Public Sector Agencies.
Objectives
Providing a policy development, advisory, advocacy and negotiating services to Ministers of the Crown, the Chief Executive of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the Commissioner for Public Employment and Chief Executives of administrative units, statutory authorities, and other public sector organisations;
To promote work practices and considerations within the South Australian public sector which protect the health and safety of the workforce, thereby minimising the number, cost and severity of work related injuries and diseases and enhancing productivity in the workplace and
To assist Government agencies achieve the highest outcomes for returning injured employees to work on a sustainable basis and in the shortest possible time.
Objectives Achieved by:
Assisting agencies manage the devolved responsibility for Injury Prevention and Injury Management;
- The provision of appropriate capability development in Injury Prevention and Injury Management across government;
Investigating new and emerging issues and liaising with counterpart agencies interstate and internationally, professional associations and other external organisations to ensure access to contemporary information/material;
Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the achievement and delivery of whole of government outcomes for Injury Prevention and Injury Management.
Developing high-level strategies and policies for Injury Prevention and Injury Management across the South Australian Public Sector.
